About Drew's Favorite Ginger Snap (Ginger) Ginger is an up-and-coming female who was our pick of the litter out of the first breeding of our female Nancy Drew (Lucy) and our male FC/AFC Brook's Little Pete (Opie). Ginger's dam, Nancy Drew (Lucy) is a daughter of NAFC/FC/AFC Walker's Gunner who was the 1997 National All-Age Champion. Nancy Drew (Lucy) is also a full sibling to NGDC/NAGDC/FC/AFC Peter Gunn, the only Brittany in the history of the breed to earn both National Open and National Amateur field champion titles. Ginger's sire, FC/AFC Brook's Little Pete (Opie) was one of our top male competition dogs until his unfortunate demise. Opie qualified for the National Amateur Gun Dog Championship and National Open Gun Dog Championship in 2007 and 2008. Opie pushed the winners at the 2008 National Open Gun Dog Championship and finished number 5 in the nation. Opie is a son of 32x NSTRA Champion Nolan's Last Bullet who has more wins than any dog in any breed in NSTRA field trials. Ginger spent the Spring and Summer of 2009 being trained for pleasure hunting by a dear friend and great all-breed trainer, Ray Dohse. She has proven to have the strong hunting instinct and desire that her lineage supports. She is a moderate range gun dog who is a supremely driven, hard hunting dog who doesn't get sidetracked when finding birds. Once she starts looking for birds she means to find them. Through simple instinct she looks in the most likely places birds will be and therefore covers ground thoroughly in her hunt. She is also a well mannered pet who loves attention. Ginger has proven herself as an excellent producer of the future generations of high-class Brittanys as well. Ginger is the dam of Emma Tayshon, a pick of the litter female from Ginger's first litter with NFC/2xNAFC/FC/AFC Just Call Me Roy. We currently have Emma Tayshon on our competition field trial string and she is exciting us greatly with her ability and therefore adding great credibility to Ginger.
